Job Description

The Vice President of Strategy and Alignment serves as a key member of the YMCA of the Chippewa Valley’s executive leadership team. This role is responsible for driving strategic alignment across the organization by leading three critical departments: Fundraising and Development, Marketing and Communications, and Human Resources. This position ensures that all initiatives align with the YMCA’s mission, strategic plan, and community impact goals.

The VP of Strategy and Alignment will build and sustain strong relationships with donors, partners, civic leaders, and the broader community. This includes active participation in community events, Chamber of Commerce functions, and collaborative initiatives that promote the YMCA’s mission and impact.

The VP of Strategy and Alignment will also play a critical role in all capital projects, helping align our charitable work with possible private and public philanthropy opportunities.

The VP of Strategy and Alignment provides direct supervision and leadership to the Mission Advancement Director, Marketing Director, and HR Director, fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability. This role is essential in strengthening the Y’s position as a cause-driven leader in youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human services, human resources, or related area
  • SHRM Certification preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, preferrably in YMCA/non-profit sector
  • Ability to lattrack, retain, lead and motivate quality staff and volunteers
  • YMCA Organizational Leader certification
  • Proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management
  • Strategic planning experience
  • Fundraising experience, including oversight of successful annual campaigns, the securing of grants and personal solicitation and securing of major gifts
Essential Functions

Mission Advancement & Fundraising

· Lead and oversee all philanthropic initiatives including annual giving, capital campaigns, major gifts, grants, endowment development, and donor relations.

· Supervise the Mission Advancement Director and support the creation and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with the Y’s strategic priorities.

· Build and maintain relationships with key donors, community partners, and stakeholders to ensure long-term financial sustainability.

· Report fundraising progress and outcomes to the CEO, Board of Directors, and appropriate committees.

Marketing, Communications & Public Relations

· Provide strategic direction for all marketing, branding, communications, and public relations activities.

· Supervise the Marketing Director and ensure messaging is consistent, compelling, and aligned with the Y’s mission and values.

· Oversee the planning and execution of community and public events, ensuring they support membership, fundraising, and community engagement goals.

· Act as a spokesperson and ambassador for the YMCA, promoting its impact across multiple platforms and media.

Human Resources Leadership

· Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all HR functions including talent acquisition, staff development, employee engagement, performance management, DEI initiatives, and compliance.

· Supervise the HR Director and ensure HR practices support a healthy, inclusive, and mission-aligned workplace culture.

· Support the development of leadership pipelines and succession planning within the organization.

· Align HR policies and procedures with YMCA best practices and legal standards.
