Financial Analyst I (Association Office)

The Financial Analyst will also assist in the preparation of monthly accruals, financial reports, budgets, and audits.
Job Description

Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 Annually

The YMCA of Greater New York Association Office is seeking a Financial Analyst. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Financial Planning and Reporting, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for performing functions, including, but not limited to, analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts, analyzing financial reports and performance, identifying trends, providing information to Association staff, and contributing to the improvement of finance processes. The Financial Analyst will also assist in the preparation of monthly accruals, financial reports, budgets, and audits.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field required.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices required.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (i.e., pivot tables, V-lookups, conditional formulas, etc.) and database spreadsheets.
  • Experience with Oracle, Salesforce, Workday, and AS400 is a plus.
  • Direct experience in analyzing and presenting clear facts and issues is desired, but not essential.
  • This is an onsite, hybrid role based out of our Manhattan Office.
Essential Functions
  • Maintain and update trend reports to support business performance reporting as directed by the Senior Director.
  • Process and track occupancy-related invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely recording.
  • Download and allocate utility bills across branches using Excel-based data analysis.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes in consolidating and validating departmental input.
  • Maintain variance and account-level analysis on general ledger data as directed by the Financial Planning and Reporting lead.
  • Run financial reports to support the business operation and the finance team as requested.
  • Assist in the monthly closing process by preparing journal templates as requested.
  • Contribute to ad hoc financial analysis and cross-functional projects.
  • Assist in implementing new software or processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
