Job Description

YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is looking for a new leader in Maintenance to join the team and support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of facilities. The ideal candidate must be able to perform minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, dry wall and painting repairs.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications: This position requires graduation from an accredited trade school in a related field, and/or 5 years' experience along with demonstrated knowledge in plumbing, electric, carpentry and painting and drywall repair. Must be 18 years old or older. Must be able to lift 75lbs and must have a valid Texas Driver's License.  

Experience & Background:  High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail and high degree of initiative will help this candidate be successful.  The ability to direct programs through leading both staff and volunteers, developing and monitoring budgets, developing and marketing programs and bringing enthusiasm and a passion for fundraising.  A proven track record in building authentic relationships with others and the ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.  This leader will need the ability to connect and relate with diverse groups of people at all levels of the organization.  Bilingual English/Spanish would be a plus.

Essential Functions
  • Resolve and complete work orders in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that we maintain a quality facility that will exceed the expectations of our members.  
  • Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door or wall repair.  
  • Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.  
  • Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems.  
  • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.  
  • Monitors building systems and implements changes or repairs if needed.
