Job Description

Under the guidance of the Sr. Youth Development Director, the Youth Development Director will be responsible for curriculum development and may have responsibilities for the following: assist with the opening of new sites and overseeing the development of overall daily operations of Day Camp, Before and After School Enrichment (BASE) and other YMCA programs.

Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
  • At least two years of progressive, responsible experience supervising a staff team of at least 20 members.
  • Twenty-four months of experience working with school-age children in a group setting.
  • Twelve months of budget, fiscal management/profit and loss responsibility.
  • Twelve months supervising a staff team of at least ten people.
Essential Functions
  • Maintains staff/child ratio as set by the State of Delaware licensing and American Camping Association (ACA) regulations and ensures availability of qualified substitutes as necessary; Submits annual licensing paperwork and works with the ACA representative(s).
  • Responsible for annual licensure of all program sites, ensuring regulations are consistently met at all sites.
  • Manages, directs and coordinates all school age base programs for assigned location.
  • Supports BASE Director, Teen Director and other Youth Development leadership as needed.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed, according to state childcare licensing rules and regulations.
  • Orders supplies and equipment as needed within budgeted amounts.
  • Works with Secretary and/ or Business Manager to coordinate new registrations, transitions, terminations, POC updates and billing issues.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Continuing progress and maintenance of requirements for participation in Delaware Stars, NAEYC Accreditation and ACA Accreditation.
