Job Description

The Executive Branch Director is on the Senior Leadership Team of the YMCA of Youngstown. Under the supervision of the CEO, this position is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day operational success of their assigned branch. This role oversees all aspects of branch operations, including program development, membership growth and retention, fiscal management, staff supervision, fundraising, facility excellence, and community engagement. The Executive Branch Director embodies the YMCA mission and guiding principles—while ensuring the branch operates with excellence, sustainability, and impact.

Qualifications

1.     Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, or related field.

2.     Minimum of 5–7 years in progressive leadership positions, preferably within YMCA or similar nonprofit.

3.     Proven success in leadership, fiscal management, staff supervision, fundraising, and community development.

4.     Effective communication, organizational, and people skills.

5.     Commitment to the YMCA’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.

Essential Functions

Mission Advancement

  • Champion the YMCA’s Christian mission, vision, and guiding principles in all operations and community relationships.
  • Build partnerships with community leaders, schools, government agencies, and organizations to advance the Y's impact.
  • Promote volunteerism and develop and lead an engaged Branch Advisory Committee.

Operational Excellence

  • Lead the development and execution of high-quality programs in Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
  • Drive membership acquisition and retention strategies with a focus on customer experience and Smart Start.
  • Oversee daily operations ensuring safety, cleanliness, and alignment with YMCA standards and practices.
  • Lead the Facilities Leadership Team to prioritize maintenance, aesthetics, and member experience

Fiscal Management

  • Develop and manage the annual branch budget using SGA tools to meet or exceed budget goals.
  • Monitor all financial operations to ensure accuracy, revenue growth, and cost control.
  • Provide monthly forecasts and budget variance reports. Work with Business Office to approve invoices and credit card receipts.
  • Lead and support the Annual Campaign, Capital Campaign, and fundraising initiatives to meet charitable goals.

People Leadership

  • Hire, train, supervise, and develop a high-performing branch leadership staff team.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance evaluations, and coaching.
  • Foster a staff culture of accountability, innovation, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA and Praesidium standards for safety and risk management.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • YMCA Multi-Team Leader Certification (or willingness to obtain within 2 years).
